Personal Note:

I was woken at around 6am on Sept. 12th NZT by a phone call from a friend. "Turn on the TV to channel 1" he said in a shaky voice. I flicked it on just as a they showed a replay of the second plane hitting the towers. In stunned silence my partner and I sat for around 2 hours watching as replay after replay of the horrible events sunk in. That morning as we drove to work it seemed everything was dulled, subdued. Traffic was moving more calmly than normal. The township I work in was hushed. Our office spent most of the day gathered around a PC with a live internet feed to CNN talking about how this could have happened.
I want everyone to know that the american shock and heartache from Sept. 11th was felt very accutely here in my little country. My heart goes out to all those who were affected by that day.
